Testing
WORK toward personal high academic goals
Achieve Language Academy utilizes numerous types of assessments throughout the year to monitor student progress and mastery of curriculum. Achieve staff may use different assessment techniques including quizzes, pretests, observations, chapter tests, and final exams. Additionally, Achieve adminsters more formalized assessments three times a year (fall, winter, and spring) to measure student understanding and growth. Finally, Achieve Language Academy adheres to the the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) requirements for administering statewide assessments. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) or Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS) are given once per year in the spring for students in grades 3-8. Everything from informal classroom assessments to the MCAs provide our staff with numerous insights into how students are learning and progressing throughout the year.
Parents have the right to opt their students out of statewide assessments (MCAs/MTAS). If you would like to have your student exempted from standardized assessments, you must complete this opt out form from MDE every year and return it to the school. If you opt out in one school year, you must complete the form again the following school year for your student(s) to be excused from testing again.
