Jill Tourville
Prek Teacher
While this is my fourth year teaching PreKindergarten at Achieve and my thirteenth year of teaching. Previously, I taught a range of ages from PreK through 5th grade. Currently, I am living in Farmington with my husband Steven, three children: Catherine (13), Dawson (6), Ashlynn (4) and our cat, Gracie.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, learning/practicing the Spanish language, reading, scrapbooking, rollerblading, drinking new types of tea (especially chai), creating Donor's Choose projects and surfing the internet for new technology!
I believe in building a sense of community in the classroom and promoting positive relationships among students and teachers. Students must feel they are in a safe, mindful, fair, and comfortable environment where they can equally contribute by sharing and gaining knowledge. I believe all students are capable of learning.
My goal as an educator is to ensure every student reaches his or her full academic potential. I'm a strong advocate of preschool not only preparing students for success in Kindergarten, but for preparing children to become confident in themselves, gain independence, embrace/explore their cultural identity, and most importantly, to enjoy coming to school every day.
