May 19 Update

Dear Achieve Families, There are a few important updates in this week’s letter. Thank you for your continued partnership during our distance learning experience.

Grading We understand that distance learning has been an adjustment for our staff and our families. Students will still receive report cards and grades for trimester 3, however, we are temporarily modifying our grading practices because of the impact of distance learning on our students. The changes are being made because we know distance learning is not ideal and poses many challenges for students and their families. Additional stress during the pandemic, varied access to resources and time to complete assignments, and different levels of academic support provided at home can all impact a students’ ability to learn. The intent of the change in grading is to measure students’ progress and keep them learning, while also ensuring they are held harmless in light of the barriers of distance learning. Students will be graded according to Pass (P) or In Progress (IP). Report cards will be mailed home after the end of the school year.
