March 16 Update

Updated: Mar 20

We continue to work on our plans for providing support for students and families as we navigate this difficult situation. In this letter, we will talk about childcare options available, meals we provide, and how students can pick up their things. Please complete the survey if you need meals or childcare:

Child Care for Children of Medical and Emergency Personnel:

We will be providing childcare for elementary-age students (age 12 and under) of parents in the medical field (see guidelines below). This child care will begin Wednesday, March 18th and be available from 7:30 am-3:30 pm. It will be free of charge and lunch will be provided. A work badge or proof of employment will be required at drop-off.

Healthcare staff as described below:

  • Health care providers and systems, including hospitals and clinics

  • Post-acute and long-term care facilities, including nursing and assisted living facilities

  • Other health systems and organizations, such as:

  • Home Care workers

  • Personal Care Assistants

  • Ambulance/emergency

  • Direct Care and Treatment

Other emergency staff, including:

  • First responders (police, paramedics, etc...)

  • Firefighters

  • Personnel providing correctional services

  • Essential Court personnel

  • Minnesota State Veterans Homes staff

  • State and local public health agency employees

  • MNsure Navigators

  • County financial/eligibility workers

  • County case managers

  • Or any county staff in emergency management or health and human services

Providing Meals to Students:

Beginning on Wednesday, March 18th, Achieve will be providing meals to all students whose families need them. Families will receive breakfast, lunch, and a snack each day. Families can pick up meals between 7:30 am and 11:30 am by coming to the board room door to the right of the main entrance.. To reserve meals, click here to fill out the survey below.

To help us plan for staffing, please use the forms below to let us know if you need childcare or meals for your family:

There are also several restaurants in the area who are providing free meals for children during the school closures. Click here for a list of participating restaurants.

Picking Up Student Learning Materials and Personal Items:

If your child has items that they need to pick up from school, families are welcome to stop by to pick them up starting Wednesday, March 18th between 8 am and 3 pm. Students may pick up student medication, winter gear, and other personal items they may need. The entry into the school will be on a very controlled basis, with staff limiting the number of individuals within the building at any one time.

We will continue to provide updates as the situation changes. Thank you for your patience and flexibility in this difficult time. If you have questions or need other help or support, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. For the most recent updates, please visit https://www.achievemn.org/coronavirus-update.
