Distance Learning Update - October 9, 2020

To All Achieve Language Academy Families,

It is a great day to be a part of the ALA Family!

At the beginning of the school year, ALA made the decision to begin the year with distance learning. As promised, ALA has been diligently watching the state and country trends regarding positive Covid-19 results, while also conducting surveys of both families and staff to help determine if or when a change of instructional model could take place.

As of today, October 9, 2020, the last three weeks in Minnesota and our two largest counties that we have represented in our student population have shown a continued increase in positive testing results. Our surveys have also supported concerns over transitioning to a Hybrid or full In-Person learning model.

Therefore, Achieve Language Academy has made the decision to CONTINUE DISTANCE LEARNING THROUGH NOVEMBER 30. On or before November 20, ALA will once again review the trends and conduct surveys to determine whether or not a change in the instructional model will be made. If that determination supports a change, the change will begin on November 30.

As the Executive Director of ALA, I find this decision very difficult to make; however, to ensure the safety of our students and staff, the decision to continue with distance learning can be supported through the data, which we have collected. I, along with the administration team of the school and the Board Chair, have all come to the same conclusion.

I ask for your continued support and will continue to work with our teachers and school staff to do all we can to provide quality instruction during our distance learning model. Please watch for more information on how ALA plans to support our families over the next few days.

Be safe and well.

Dr. Curtis Windham
