Happy April! With spring break drawing to an end, I wanted to reach out and share some important information for next week.
Beginning on April 6th, the school office will be open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am -12:00 pm. The building is still closed to the public, so if you need something, please contact the office during their open hours.
Picking Up Meals/Materials/Chromebooks
Meals and materials will be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays only, from 8:00-10:00 am and 4:00-6:00 pm. Please remain in your car and a staff member will come to you. If you are picking up meals, you will be given 3 days worth of meals (breakfast and lunch) each time to help cut down on the times families need to leave their homes and travel to school. Meals are also available from Conway from 12:00pm to 6:00pm if needed.
We still have about 50 families who have not picked up distance learning materials. A staff member will be contacting you soon to pick up your student’s bag if you have not already picked it up.
Chromebooks will be available during normal pick up hours as listed above. If your family has already requested a chromebook, it will be ready for you on Monday morning. If you have not requested one, there are a limited number of them available on Monday and will be given out first come, first serve.
Distance learning begins Monday! The assignments for weeks 1 and 2 have been provided on paper so all students can access their assignments. There are not specific hours for distance learning. We realize that every family is different and schedules may not look the same. Your family should create a schedule that works for you, your work obligations, access to computers, number of students working at home, and so on. Teachers are available during the school day if you have questions or need help.
The Minnesota Department of Education does require us to take attendance each day. This means each student needs to contact their homeroom teacher each day. Any contact made during the 24 hour period of that day will be counted present for attendance (12:01 am - 11:59 pm). Because we know families have different levels of access, you have several options for reporting your attendance:
Responding to a teacher on Google Classroom (grades 2-8) or Seesaw (PreK-1)
Sending your teacher an email
Sending your teacher a text message
Leaving your teacher a voicemail
In your student’s bag of distance learning materials, you have received contact information for your child’s teachers. If you need additional contact information for a particular teacher, please let me know.
Our primary goal with taking attendance is maintaining regular communication with students and families to make sure they have what they need and that they are safe. We will reach out to families who have not reported in for attendance as we do on a normal school day.
No School - April 10th
There is no distance learning on Friday, April 10th. This was originally scheduled as a teacher workshop day, so your students will not be expected to check in that day. Regular distance learning will resume on Monday, April 13th.
Please reach out to us if you have questions or need additional support.
