Dear Achieve Community,
This afternoon, Governor Walz announced that Minnesota schools will continue using the distance learning model for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and students will not be returning to the school building.
We will continue to provide meals and childcare as we have been offering up to this point. We also know that Achieve has a great tradition of spring celebrations and events. We will be working with our school team to figure out how to still celebrate our community while we are apart. Watch for updates in the coming weeks as we develop our plans.
The Minnesota Department of Education has directed that Friday, May 1st, and Monday, May 4th be designated as staff workdays. This will allow us time to provide additional support to our teachers and paraprofessionals as they prepare for the continuation of distance learning. These days will be non-school days for students. We strongly encourage families and students to use these days as a break and a chance to recharge.
We are now in our 3rd week of distance learning and despite the unusual circumstances that our students and staff have faced, the level of learning that has taken place in the virtual classrooms has been phenomenal. We continue to be inspired by the determination and creativity our students and staff have shown while continuing their teaching and learning through our distance learning model, and we are confident that this success will continue.
We appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to provide continuity of learning for all of our students.
