3-4

Mission

The mission of the lower intermediate program is to promote student social and academic growth.

Lower Intermediate Program

Achieve Language Academy students benefit from a positive, safe environment within our classrooms using the Responsive Classroom model. Our 3rd and 4th grade classrooms strive to validate and teach appreciation of all cultures. Our elementary school environment helps our students grow to be life long learners.

Goals

The three major student goals of our team are the following:

  1. Use test driven data to determine students' needs and drive instruction

  2. Use differentiation to meet the needs of all learners

  3. Incorporate literacy across core subject areas

Grade 3 Math & Science

Third graders learners are curious and adventurous learners! In third grade, students become independent learners through hands on learning experiences in both math and science.  Learning to multiply, dissecting owl pellets, playing math games and learning about the structures of crayfish are just a few third grade adventures.

The point is not to pay back KINDNESS,

but to pass it on.

Achieve is my second home – I am at the beginning of my 18th year teaching here! My favorite subjects to teach are mathematics and science. I went to college at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

An interesting fact about me - I've wanted to be a teacher since I was eight when I read "Little House on the Prairie." I wanted to be just like Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I live in nearby North St. Paul with my family – my husband, Eric, my daughter, Emma, and our three dogs, Max, Toby and Sophie. I spend a lot of time reading, taking pictures, spending time with friends and family and am involved with all of my daughter's school and dance activities.

I have been a teacher for 6 years, and I love helping kids learn to become more independent. I went to Minneapolis College of Art and Design for my bachelor's degree, and Hamline University for my Master's. My husband, Mitchell, works as a machinist. We have one child, Oskar, who will be 2 years old soon. We enjoy spending time at our cabin in Wisconsin, and love being active outdoors.

My wife, Tina, works in Human Resources. We have two children, Knut, a seventh grader and Signe, a fifth grader. We enjoy spending time at our family cabin. We are really into sports, especially football and baseball.

I have been working at Achieve for approximately 20 years and am truly committed to our community.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy being with my husband and family, going on walks, gardening, and traveling. Peace out!
