Achieve Language Academy is a public charter school and is open to the public free of cost. Class sizes are limited based on limits set by the school board and administration. Families wishing to enroll for the upcoming school year should submit an application for the lottery process. The application will be available each year on the first business day in January. Once enrolled at ALA, students maintain their spot and do not need to reapply for upcoming school years. In accordance with MS124d.10 Subd. 9 Charter School Law, no student currently enrolled at the school shall be displaced by another student.
An enrollment lottery will be held on the first business day in March for each grade where the number of applications exceeds the number of open spots. To participate in the lottery, families must submit an application between the first business day in January before March 1st. Once all of the open spots are filled, the remaining students will be drawn and placed sequentially on the waiting list. Applications received on or after March 1st will be placed at the end of the waiting list in the order they are received.
*Please note that the enrollment process is not complete until the registration packet has been filled out. A new student is not considered enrolled until all of the appropriate paperwork has been received at Achieve.
Students who do not receive an open spot will be placed on the waitlist in sequential order.
Students will remain on the grade level wait list until a spot becomes available.
As spots are accepted or declined, students will move up on the waitlist. This will continue through the remainder of the school year.
If they are not yet admitted and want to continue to seek admission, students on the waitlist will need to reapply for the following year’s lottery.
As allowed by Minnesota law, siblings of students or foster children living with students who are already attending Achieve Language Academy will receive sibling preference in the enrollment process. These means they will be placed in front of applicants who do not have a sibling attending ALA during the enrollment lottery and on the waitlist. Sibling enrollment is not assumed and all siblings wishing to enroll at Achieve Language Academy must submit an application prior to the deadline. This includes siblings who will be incoming Kindergarten or PreK students.
Children of staff members at Achieve Language Academy will receive priority for admission, as space allows, after sibling/foster children requests have been fulfilled.
Students unenrolling from Achieve to receive special education or medical services (such as extended school year services), will be able to retain their enrollment spot until they return following the conclusion of the service period at the other district/facility.
