Curriculum and Instruction
Achieve uses the Minnesota Graduation Standards as the base for its instructional program to teach core elementary and middle school curriculum of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Quality work is expected and encouraged at all levels. Teachers understand that each child learns in his/her own way. They work with students to help them identify their learning styles, strengths and interests. They plan and modify classroom experiences around the individual strengths, interests, cultural back-grounds, and needs of their students.

A good portion of every day is spent on each student acquiring the necessary literacy skills they will need for academic success in the world of work. The focus in all classrooms is on hands-on and concrete experiences in all subject areas to reinforce skills and concepts.

Our middle level program is designed to build on each student's skills and interests in a holistic approach to subject areas. The program is committed to the fact that middle level learners have develop-mental, academic, social needs and personal attributes specific to their age. The learning environments provide for a variety of learning modalities, focus on utilizing community-based learning resources outside the traditional classroom, and emphasize on transition

Student Assessment
Each student has a continuous learning plan (clp) based on input from staff, parents and student, and data from both formal and informal assessments. The formal assessments include the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) student test, the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, and the Test for Emerging Academic English, as well as quarterly reading and writing work-sampling assessments.

Our report card provides a combination of numerical indicator and narrative for each child each trimester. A portfolio of work samplings from each year at Achieve follows the student throughout his/her K-8 school career. Parents are required to participate in conferences at the beginning of the school year, in late fall and in the spring to visit with their child's teacher regarding their child's individual progress and review his/her academic and social goals.

Technology
Technology is a tool used throughout the school. We have 2 wireless mobile computer labs that is available for individual classroom use and every classroom has two to four computer workstations designated for student use. All students receive practical computer instruction through our media instruction program.
