| Upper Intermediate Level (grades 5-6)
The mission of the upper intermediate program is to challenge all of our learners to grow both academically and socially through a cooperative environment.
Our three major student goals are to:
- Use differentiation to meet the needs of each learner.
- Continue to teach literacy skills through all subject areas.
- Emphasize higher level thinking and problem solving skills.
Each "homebase" classroom has student communities with a mix of both 5th and 6th grade students. Students stay with the same "homebase" teacher for two years. During each day the students participate in a two academic blocks, a Language Arts and Social Studies block and a Math and Science block. During these classes students will begin to develop the necessary academic skills that will prepare them for middle school and high school.
